About

I am a senior research fellow at the University of Sheffield’s Energy Innovation Centre, conducting experimental and theoretical investigations into innovative aspects of evolving thermal processes at the new ERDF-funded Translational Energy Research Centre and Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre. I am the research theme manager for low-carbon, sustainable energy and am the academic lead for the biomass gasifier, multi-fuel gas turbine, biodiesel engine and trace metal analysis. I have received funding for and worked on numerous large-scale research projects with a range of academic/industrial partners totalling >£25m, from which I have published widely. I have also been seconded to both Alstom Power Ltd. and GE Power on research sabbaticals. I am a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Energy Institute, an invited committee member of the IChemE Clean Energy Special Interest Group and a co-opted specialist on the IFRF Council.
