About

I am a Research Fellow in Aviation Fuels at the University of Sheffield and a Charted Engineer. Since 2005 I have carrying out fluids research, mainly for the aerospace industry via experimental and numerical methods. I have developed experimental capabilities from bench scale up to TRL5 for aviation fuels, elastomers and lubricants. I have expertise in computational fluid dyamics (CFD) for external and internal flows and with chemistry, as well as in heat transfer. I develop high performance software for numerical simulations for a wide range of aerospace related topics and beyond. I am a co-investigator for the £5M Supergen Bioenergy Impact Hub, and within this I am leading the project on advancing bio-derived sustainable aviation fuels. This project aims to develop modelling software for the prediction of thermal degradation of SAFs in aviation gas turbines in order to enable new generation of engines to maximise the benefits of SAF.
