Postion 1:
The Aston University Bioenergy Research Group within the European Bioenergy Research Institute is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow for an EPSRC funded project to work on several related topics, notably a techno-economic model for liquid biofuels, a technical and economic review of aviation fuel processes, and a review of the SUPERGEN Bioenergy Hub project capabilities and capacity building. The postholder will develop a review on liquid biofuels by thermal processing mainly including construction of a techno-economic model, and including particularly aviation fuel processes, and a review of the SUPERGEN Bioenergy Hub project capabilities and capacity building.
The successful applicant will join an established team within the Aston University Bioenergy Research Group located in the European Bioenergy Research Institute and will carry out research in pyrolysis of biomass and upgrading the liquid products. Training opportunities will be provided to acquire appropriate and experimental and numerical research skills.
Candidates will have knowledge of integrated processes for biofuels; technical and economic assessment of biofuel production systems and complementary skills including capability mapping and experience of presenting and reporting research results.
A first degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (or close to being awarded a PhD) are required for the role.
