Calling all bioenergy ECRs: Help create our new Bioenergy App

We’re starting work on a new Bioenergy App and we want to turn your research into online materials for public engagement.

In 2016, the Supergen Bioenergy Hub developed the Bioenergy Comic which became a highly successful tool used to engage with stakeholders and communicate our research.

The Hub has now funded a project to develop a pilot UK Bioenergy App which will be an engagement tool that can be used to promote bioenergy and the Hub’s research at events, exhibitions and conferences, including those linked to COP26.

The work is being led by Andrew Welfle from the University of Manchester, who is in the process of appointing a team of coders who will develop the app over the summer.

We would like the design and content for the app to be driven by early career researchers (ECRs), and at this stage it is very much a blank canvas. Getting involved in developing the app will be an opportunity for you to promote your research and turn your outputs into interactive features such as maps, graphs and diagrams. Everybody who contributes will be credited within the app, and you may also be able to promote it at events.

If you would like to get involved, please complete the expression of interest form below and send it to andrew.welfle@manchester.ac.uk as soon as possible.

Responses will provide an initial framework for a series of engagement activities taking place over July and August to develop ideas and content. We’ll also be welcoming a BBC representative to these engagement events to get expert feedback and guidance.

Join one of our Zoom calls to contribute to the development of these features.
