Energising Futures: Bioenergy careers and collaboration
A joint event from Supergen Bioenergy Hub and Future Biogas
Wednesday 18 June, 10am-4.45pm
Moor Bioenergy facility, Grantham, 18 June 2025
The Energising Futures event, organised jointly by the Supergen Bioenergy Hub and Future Biogas will take place at Moor Bioenergy, the UK’s first unsubsidised biomethane facility, near Grantham.
This unique event brings together research and industry partners to share experiences and insights into pathways from academia to industry, explore collaborations and future connections, and tour the newly opened facility.
The morning will focus on early career researcher development, while the afternoon sessions are about insights and collaboration opportunities for the wider academic and industrial community. You are welcome to attend either or both sessions.
The morning is focused on early career researchers with Dr Becky Wheeler, Business Development Director at Future Biogas, sharing her career journey. This will be followed by a workshop session led by Jenny Bannerman, HR Director of Future Biogas and key industry colleagues, exploring the skills necessary for a career in industry. The morning will wrap up with a session on policy engagement by Freya Horsfield, Policy Fellow, Supergen Bioenergy Hub.
During lunch, colleagues from Future Biogas and companies from across the energy space will be on hand at the careers station with information and opportunities.
The afternoon will focus on the wider academic and industry community, beginning with a presentation on lifecycle analysis of the Moor Bioenergy facility – developed in partnership by Future Biogas and AstraZeneca – followed by a site visit, showcasing how it transforms purpose-grown energy crops grown as part of food rotations into renewable gas.
The closing session will introduce the new Supergen Bioenergy Hub Business Interaction Vouchers (up to £15k in funding for Hub partners to explore opportunities for new collaborations) before ending with a networking session to inspire research-industry partnerships.
