Entries for Future Game Changers Award 2024 now open!

Are you a postgraduate student with a winning innovation idea? Submit your entry to the Future Game Changers Award and you could win a small fortune!

The Supergen Bioenergy Hub together with the Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy Hub and the Supergen Energy Networks Hub are delighted to be supporting this year’s Future Game Changers Award 2024.

The award is specifically designed to find postgraduate students who will be ‘Future Game Changers’ in the field of renewable energy and technology.

Part of the British Renewable Energy Awards organised by the Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA), the award offers postgraduate students the opportunity to showcase your net zero innovation ambition among the foremost renewable energy leaders in the UK.

To be in with a chance of winning the £2,000 prize, all you need to do is submit your innovative idea or concept that could accelerate the race to achieve net zero.

A shortlist of finalists will be invited to attend the Gala Awards Dinner in London on 13 June 2024 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel London.

The winner will be voted for by all awards attendees in the run-up to the event as well as on the night.

How to enter

Entries can be submitted in two formats:

  • VIDEO (3 minutes max), or
  • Infographic POSTER (designed for A0).

Poster submissions should be accompanied by a screen recorded PowerPoint presentation via an online platform such as Zoom or Microsoft teams.

The REA has produced a video guide with helpful tips and tricks on how to effectively present to camera.


  • Three minutes maximum in length
  • Landscape filming angle
  • MP4 or WMV file format
  • Shortlisted videos will be edited into a highlight reel and shown on the night of the Gala Awards Dinner with no audio, so it’s a good idea to communicate your ideas visually.

  • A0 size
  • High-quality JPG, PNG or PDF file format
  • Accompanied by a hosted PowerPoint screen recorded presentation.
  • Shortlisted posters will be displayed on screens on the night of the Gala Awards Dinner.

All submissions must answer the following questions:

  • What is your idea?
  • Tell us about yourself and your background. What inspired you to come up with your idea?
  • How is this going to help to achieve net zero targets and how will you measure success?
  • Which stakeholders will you need to work with? (eg general public, communities, local/national government, business, academia, other organisations, etc)
  • How much do you think this will cost/save?
  • What changes need to be seen today/in 6 months/in 5 years to make your idea come to fruition?
  • Which REA strategic pillar – Decarbonising Power, Decarbonising Heat, Decarbonising Transport, Circular Bioresources, etc – will your idea address?

Submission deadline

Submit your entry to supergen-bioenergy@aston.ac.uk or via WeTransfer to supergen-bioenergy@aston.ac.uk by Tuesday 28 May 2024 at 5pm.
