Research priorities in bioenergy vectors (electricity, heat, liquid fuels, hydrogen, biochemicals and bioproducts)

Background:

RCUK plans to invest £5Min a multi-disciplinary Supergen bioenergy hub to act as a focal point for UK bioenergy research. The hub will connect academia with industrial and policy stakeholders to focus on sustainable bioenergy development.

Prof. Patricia Thornley from Aston University has been appointed to lead the hub and is currently carrying out a consultation to establish the research priorities that the new hub will address and identify appropriate research partners and stakeholders.

Aim of the event:

This workshop will focus on research priorities in transforming bioenergy products to vectors that fit within existing infrastructures, the challenges associated with meeting relevant standards and matching of biomass and bioenergy products to user demands. It will also consider engagement between the bioenergy and other energy communities as well as with the transport and agricultural sectors.
