SHARE research sandpit – 6th and 7th of April (Leeds)

Bioenergy’s contribution to achieving strategic environmental targets in a coherent, sustainable and cost-effective manner: challenges in the UK and globally

6th and 7th of April, Leeds.

A research sandpit is being organised by the SUPERGEN Bioenergy Hub SHARE networkfor PhD students and early career researchers, who will be invited to develop research project ideas with fellow attendees. A total of £50,000research funding will be split between the best proposed one or two project(s), as judged by a panel of senior industry, policy and academic representatives.

Date and location: The event will run from midday on the 6th, to the afternoon of the 7th of April 2016, at Hinsley Hall, Leeds(http://www.hinsley-hall.co.uk/). Please note that participants will have to attend both days.

This sandpit aims to encourage early career researchers to engage more actively with the research needs of the industry and policy communities, and to collaborate with peers outside their usual research networks.  It will also provide young researchers with a rare ‘practice run’ for future research sandpits. Provocations to stimulate project ideas and guidance will be provided by leading bioenergy scientists and industry stakeholders. The winning project(s) will demonstrate a multi-disciplinary approach to progressing a specific area of bioenergy research.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the application form and return it to andrew.welfle@manchester.ac.uk by 19th February 2016. Applications are open to all PhD students and early career researchers belonging to partners of the SUPERGEN Bioenergy Hub.
