Supergen Bioenergy Hub at EuroScience Open Forum 2022
The Supergen Bioenergy Hub team are delighted to be hosting a Fishbowl event on ‘Sustainability Forestry and Bioenergy’ at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) on Thursday, 14th July at 11:15 – 12:30 CEST in Kamerlingh Onnes Building (KOG) in Leiden.
ESOF 2022 offers the scientific community a platform for interdisciplinary and intersectional debate about scientific culture, scientific research and innovation, for and with society. It runs from 13-16 July in Leiden and online.
The participant-driven ‘fishbowl’ debate hosted by the Supergen Bioenergy Hub will explore a wide range of perspectives on forestry and bioenergy, to provide a clear and balanced forum which will inform evidence-based policymaking. Speakers include Luc Pelkmans from the International Energy Agency and Mirjam Roeder from Aston University.
Participants will be able to swap in and out of the debating circle, enabling a wide range of viewpoints and perspectives to be heard, The debate will be structured around three key questions:
Topic 1 – What is a sustainable forest?
Topic 2 – How can forests help with climate change?
Topic 3 – What could a forest of the future look like?
Participants are invited to contribute during the ‘fishbowl’ by engaging in the debate about this complex and controversial topic, seeking to clarify what role forests should play in a net zero world.
Registration for ESOF is open here for tickets in person or online. The Fishbowl session will be streamed and further details will be posted on this page.
