Supergen Bioenergy Hub at the Climate Exp0, 17-21 May, online
Ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) being held in Glasgow during November this year, the Climate Exp0 will bring together policymakers, academics, practitioners, students and members of the public to collaborate, share and debate climate change science and policy.
We are delighted that several of our researchers from across our Hub Topic Groups will be presenting at the Climate Exp0, to explore how sustainable bioenergy systems contribute to the green recovery and climate change adaptation and resilience measures. The Climate Exp0 is free to attend and details of our involvement are below.
Monday 17 May – Green Recovery
Both Patricia Thornley (Aston University) and Jason Hallett (Imperial College London) will be presenting during the “Solution stars: Mitigation solutions for green recovery” between 12:00-13:00 BST. Patricia will be presenting a talk titled “Policy mechanisms to accelerate sustainable bioenergy deployment”, and Jason will be presenting “The role of biorenewable products in the green recovery”.
Marcelle McManus (University of Bath) will be presenting several posters titled “BioHydrogen – The Way Ahead”, “Energy and Infrastructure Systems Impact: Walking the Temporal Tightrope” and “Bio-based gasification – potential and opportunities” which will be available on-demand, as well as during the “Poster Hall Session” between 17:30-18:30 BST.
Wednesday 19 May – Mitigation Solutions
Anita Shepherd (University of Aberdeen) will be presenting a poster titled “The potential of miscanthus to capture carbon and its upscaling plans” which will be available on-demand, as well as during the “Poster Hall Session” between 17:30-18:30 BST.
Jiacheng Sun (University of Edinburgh) will be presenting a poster titled “A comprehensive review of algal biofuel and biochar for climate change mitigation: bottlenecks and opportunities” which will be available on-demand, as well as during the “Poster Hall Session” between 17:30-18:30 BST.
Thursday 20 May – Adaptation and Resilience
Muhammad Naveed Arshad (Aberystwyth University) will be presenting a poster titled “Landscape Decision System through spatial modelling tools to achieve UK net zero targets” which will be available on-demand, as well as during the “Poster Hall Session” between 17:30-18:30 BST.

COP26 is the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference, scheduled to take place from 1 – 12 November in Glasgow. The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
