Supergen Bioenergy Hub Director contributes to special report on climate science and policy
Patricia Thornley, Director of the Supergen Bioenergy Hub and the Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute at Aston University, recently contributed to the Science|Business Special Report titled “Bridging the gap between climate science and policy”, supported by Elsevier.
The report summarises the outcomes of a discussion that Prof. Thornley and other experts from the worlds of climate and energy research, politics and industry attended, exploring the obstacles between the world of science and the world of policy, how can they be removed, and how can scientists give better advice to policymakers.
Prof. Thornley reflected on the collaboration between academia and policymaking, trade-offs associated with carbon reducing strategies and academia’s role in informing the public about climate science.
