Training and networking with our SHARE early career researchers in Aberystwyth

Our excellent SHARE Network Committee organised a very successful event in Aberystwyth on 29 and 30 March.

The first day involved updates from SHARE and the Supergen Bioenergy Hub, policy engagement with the Welsh Government, a workshop on making successful job applications, a dinner and a very entertaining quiz.

The second day kicked off with a visit to Aber Innovation with a look round the state-of-the-art facilities and a tour of the Biorefining Centre by Mike Morris from BEACON Wales. The last trip was a visit to the nearby miscanthus fields to see this resilient biomass crop before harvest and learn about the impact of growing different varieties from IBERS’ Iain Donnison.

A huge thank-you to the SHARE Committee (Muhammad Naveed Arshad, Santosh Kumar, Sarah Asplin, Daniel Chernick and Ruoyang Yuan) as well as Luned Roberts and Stuart McGowan from Aberystwyth University for organising such an enjoyable and useful event.
