Removing bottlenecks from microalgal processing for demand-led whole algal partitioning for nutritional and biofuel end-use
Conclusion of the project: A new growth and processing methodology for scaling microalgal production has been proposed and demonstrated at laboratory scale, this adds value to the process chain and reduces input costs through utilising inexpensive nutrients, novel photobioreactor designs and controlled reactor inputs (e.g. lighting) and outputs (e.g. dewatering and extraction); hence making the potential for scaling microalgae more cost effective with a pathway demonstrated to overcome commercialisation barriers.
