NEW BOARDGAME
Global Bioenergy Stories has created a new board game called ‘Save the Island of Obodo’ designed for use in schools and public engagement activities. This game serves to gather insights into participants’ perceptions of traditional and innovative strategies related to energy use and sustainability. By engaging with the participants, the game facilitates discussions on renewable energy options and their implications for sustainable development. It aims to collect valuable data for socio-economic research assessments, fostering collaborative problem-solving in the face of climate change challenges.
The new GBES board game was first showcased at the Global Bioenergy Partnership event in Italy at the Food and Agriculture Office of the United Nations on 17 June 2024, to hundreds of young people attending GBEP Youth Day from across the globe.
Following its’ launch, the game has been delivered at a range of events including the Supergen Bioenergy Hub Annual Assembly, the Festival of Science and the latest Global Bioenergy Partnership Week in Uganda 2025.
